534 blocks to get 1 modern ambulance each: Bihar health minister

The 534 blocks of the state will now get one advance life support ambulance each for transporting serious patients from remote villages to the nearest district hospital or medical college and hospital for treatment.

State health minister Mangal Pandey said these ambulances would be equipped with cardiac units, portable ventilators, monitors, oxygen and other life-saving medical devices. The initiative is part of the state government’s preparation to face the likely third wave of Covid pandemic.

As health experts have expressed fears that the third wave of the pandemic might affect children the most as they have not been immunised yet, the state government has launched an initiative to set up paediatric intensive care units (PICUs) at all the important government hospitals.

5th edition of Indo-Kazakhstan Joint Training Exercise

 

This joint training exercise will be conducted as a part of military diplomacy.

 

It seeks to strengthen the growing strategic relation with Kazakhstan.

 

Training exercise will be conducted at Aisha Bibi in Kazakhstan.

Significance of the exercise

 

Joint training exercise will help in boosting bilateral relations between India and Kazakhstan.

 

It will also provide an opportunity for the Armed Forces of India Kazakhstan to train for Counter Insurgency Counter-Terrorism operations across mountainous and rural scenarios in accordance with the United Nations mandate.

 

It will further help in strengthening mutual confidence, inter-operability and enable sharing of best practices between armies of both the country.

 

Hybrid Warfare  refers to the use of unconventional methods under the multi-domain warfighting approach with the aim of disrupting and disabling actions of opponents without engaging in open hostilities.

 

India’s exports to ASEAN to be at $46 billion in FY22

 

India-ASEAN Engineering Partnership Summit was inaugurated on August 23, 2021.

 

It was organised by the Engineering Exports Promotion Council (EEPC) in association with the Ministry of External Affairs and Department of Commerce.

 

While addressing the inaugural session, the minister noted that, ASEAN is one among the largest destinations for Indian exports and will act as an important region for India in meeting the global export target of USD 400 billion for the financial year 2021-22.

 

An E-Book on India-ASEAN trade and investment was also launched that emphasizes on the engineering and MSME sector.

 

Year 2021 marks the 25th anniversary of India-ASEAN dialogue partnership and 10 years of the Strategic Partnership.

India’s first mRNA-based COVID-19 vaccine

 

First mRNA-based covid-19 vaccine, called HGCO19, is being developed by a Pune-based biotechnology company, Genova Biopharmaceuticals Ltd.

 

The company submitted its interim clinical data for Phase I study to the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) to get the further approval.

 

According to the Ministry of Science and Technology, interim Phase- I data suggests that HGCO19 vaccine is safe, tolerable, and immunogenic.

 

m-RNA Vaccines work by training the body in order to recognise and respond to the proteins that are produced by disease-causing organisms like virus or bacteria. mRNA vaccines trick the body to produce viral proteins itself. They work by using messenger RNA (m-RNA) which is the molecule that puts DNA instructions into action.

SUJALAM campaign launched by Jal Shakti Ministry

 

SUJALAM Campaign is a 100 days campaign launched as a part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations.

 

This campaign seeks to create more ODF Plus villages by undertaking waste water management across villages in India.

 

During the campaign, ten lakh Soak-pits will be created.

 

Efforts under the campaign would be directed towards achieving the ODF plus status for villages in an accelerated manner.

 

This scheme was launched with is focus on ensuring that all newly emerging Households across the village have access to toilets.

ODF+ and ODF++

 

It was launched in 2018 with the objective of scaling up and sustaining the work undertaken by the cities after they achieved Open Defecation Free (ODF) status under Phase I of the Swachh Bharat Mission — Urban (SBM-Urban) scheme.

 

Samarth Scheme: 1,500 artisans benefitted by training

 

Textile Ministry has adopted about 65 clusters for overall development of artisans in a timely manner. Ministry achieve this by ensuring self-sustainment of artisans across these clusters.

 

Upskilling of the handicraft artisans are being done by providing technical and soft skill trainings under SAMARTH scheme. It also brings about sustainable livelihood.

About Samarth Scheme

 

Textile ministry launched a “Scheme for Capacity Building in Textile Sector (SCBTS)” in 2017 in order to fill the skill gap in textile industry. Scheme was approved for entire value chain of textile industry except weaving and spinning in organised sector. SCBTS scheme is currently known as Samarth scheme. It was launched with an outlay of Rs.1,300 crore for three years (2017-18 to 2019-20).

 

Labour ministry to launch e-Sharm Portal

 

This portal will help in bringing millions of unorganised workers in India on a common platform.

 

As per an estimate, 92% of India’s workforce of 500 million is unorganised. They are often deprived of minimum wages and other forms of social security.

About e-Sharm Portal

 

e-Sharm portal will be a single-point reference that will help authorities to reach out to and track workers across informal sector. It will also offer welfare in times of crisis.

 

NDUM will comprises of migrant workers, construction workers, gig and platform workers, domestic workers, street vendors, agriculture workers, migrant workers and other such sub-groups of unorganised workers.
