Will make Bihar country’s ethanol hub: Industries minister Shahnawaz Hussain

 

 

Industries minister Shahnawaz Hussain  said 501 acres of Bihar Industrial Area Development Authority (BIADA) land across the state have been distributed among entrepreneurs establishing their production units.

“The distribution of land on such a scale and in such a short period of time is a record. It is an indication that the investors are willing to invest in Bihar and establish their industrial production units.

 

The State Investment Promotion Board headed by development commissioner has received project proposals worth Rs 35,000 crore, the minister said, adding after the framing of the ethanol policy, the work has started on the preparation of textile and leather policies of the state government.

 

INTERNATIONAL

 

UNCTAD Digital Economy Report 2021

 

In its report, UNCTAD noted the Philippines as one among six countries that allows free flow of data across borders. Free flow of data is required to boost the digital economy.

 

Other five countries allowing free-flow of data across border include- Canada, Australia, Mexico, Singapore and the United States. These countries use “light-touch approach” for data flow.

 

Light-touch approach is mostly favoured by countries having strong regulatory environments and sufficient regulatory resources in order to monitor compliance of domestic laws. As per report, Philippines’s use of light-touch approach is towards its “dependence” on the outsourcing industry, which is the major economic growth drivers in the country.

Digi Saksham programme – Key Facts

 

Digi Saksham Programme was launched by the Union Labour and Employment Minister Bhupender Yadav.

 

This digital skills programme was launched with the objective of enhance the employability of youth by improving their digital skills which has become an essential thing in increasingly technology driven era.

Digi Saksham is a joint initiative of Microsoft India and Ministry of Labour and Employment.

 

  • It is an extension of the government’s ongoing programmes of supporting youth from rural & semi-urban areas.

 

Programme will be implemented in the field by “Aga Khan Rural Support Programme India (AKRSP-I)”.

 

2021 Yidan Prize

 

India-based Dr Rukmini Banerji was awarded with the 2021 Yidan prize.

Award was presented to her by Yidan Prize Foundation.

 

Apart from her, US-based Professor Eric Hanushek was also conferred with the prestigious Yidan Prize 2021.

 

Both have been awarded the Yidan Prize for recognition of their ground-breaking work that addresses a crucial piece of education puzzle called “improving quality of education as well as outcomes for learners at scale”.

 

Both of them will join nine laureates who have been awarded the Yidan Prize since 2016.

 

 

India to increase share of renewable energy to 60 % in Major Ports

 

According to Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonwal, government has aimed to increase India’s share of renewable energy to 60% in Major ports through solar and wind power.

 

Presently, renewable energy accounts for less than 10% of power demand at the ports.

 

Government also targets to electrify 50% of port equipment by 2030.

 

As per plan, all the ports will supply shore power to visiting ships in three-phased manner by 2030.

 

Ports aim to reduce carbon emissions/ton by 30% by 2030.

Energy efficiency requirements

India will implement energy efficiency requirements of International Maritime Organization (IMO), for ships and carbon intensity requirements across all of its coastal or international vessels in order to help IMO in achieving greenhouse gas reduction targets. India is currently supplying shore power to vessels with power demand of less than 150 kW.

 

Ease of Logistics Portal- Key Facts

 

The Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Piyush Goyal, launched “Ease of Logistic Portal”.

 

While launching the portal, the minister noted that the ‘Rules of Business’ have to be the same for all stakeholders.

Portal was launched during ‘Vanijya Saptah Samapan Samaroh’, which was organised by the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO).

 

While addressing the event, the minister noted that government would be providing everybody an equal opportunity to their businesses, irrespective of whether they are big or small business houses or where they are from or other such differentiating factor.

 

Ease of Logistics portal was launched to bring in transparency.

 

Vayo Naman Programme Organised By Govt. In Honour Of Senior Citizens

 

Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment organises Vayo Naman Programme on the International Day of Older Persons, in honour of senior citizens, in New Delhi on 1 October.

Highlights:

♦ Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu is the chief guest of the programme and will present the Vayosheshtra Samman awards.

♦ The vice-chairman will dedicate the Elderly Help Line 14567 to the state and launch the Senior Able Citizens Reemployment in Dignity (SACRED) and Senior Care Ageing Growth Engine (SAGE) Portals on this occasion.
