Bihar CM Nitish Kumar pitches for ‘one nation, one rate’ policy for electricity
Chief minister Nitish Kumar pitched for ‘one nation, one rate’ policy in the power sector across the country.
Addressing the sixth governing council meeting of the NITI Aayog through videoconferencing, Nitish said, “The rate of electricity supplied from different power plants of the central government varies in different states. Bihar also gets electricity from the central government’s power plants at a higher rate compared to other states. There should be a policy of ‘one nation, one rate.
Nitish further said Bihar has achieved several milestones in the power sector. The state government provided electricity connection to each household across the state in October, 2018.
He praised the Narendra Modi government for allowing production of ethanol from sugar cane juice, which would lessen the dependency on petrol and diesel.

In the first step, the Prime Minister will redraft Italy’s recovery plan.

This amount is needed in order for the country to revive the economy hit by the recession during the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to the EU agreement, 37% of the 200 billion euros must be transferred to the transition to a low-carbon economy.

National e-Governance Plan in Agriculture – NeGPA
National e-Governance Plan in Agriculture is a centrally sponsored scheme.
National e-Governance Plan in Agriculture is Launched in 2010-11 out of 7 pilot states. From 2014-2015, it expanded to other states and 2 UTs.
Scheme objective: to achieve rapid development in India through the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) so that farmers can obtain information related to agriculture in a timely manner.
Farmers can obtain different services under the project through multiple channels, including government offices, kiosks, Krishi Vigyan Kendras, Kisan Call Centers, Agri Clinics, Common Service Centers, and web/mobile applications.
The components of the programe include the Unified Farmer Service Platform (UFSP) and the Farmer’s Database.
UFSP will act as the central agency for the agricultural ecosystem and allow service providers to register.
Women Excellence Award 2021 by SERB
SERB ( Science and Engineering Research Board) announces Women Excellence Award 2021. SERB awarded four young female researchers from the National Science Academies in recognition of their outstanding performance in science and engineering.

Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs launches Pilot Pey Jal Survekshan
Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has launched a Pilot Pey Jal Survekshan under Jal Jeevan Mission- Urban, JJM-U.
It will be conducted in cities to ascertain equitable distribution of water, reuse of wastewater and mapping of water bodies with respect to quantity and quality of water through a challenge process.
As a first step, the Ministry has decided to launch the Survekshan in 10 cities- Agra, Badlapur, Bhubaneswar, Churu, Kochi, Madurai, Patiala, Rohtak, Surat and Tumkur.
Jal Jeevan Mission Urban is designed to provide universal coverage of water supply to all households through functional taps in all 4,378 statutory towns in accordance with Sustainable Development Goal – 6.
The total outlay proposed for JJM (U) is 2 lakh 87 thousand crore rupees which includes 10 thousand crore rupees for continuing financial support to AMRUT Mission.
Neptune Declaration – Maritime Union of India
The Maritime Organization MUI urges the government to recognize the “Neptune Declaration on Seafarers’ Welfare and Crew Change” in order to formulate the “India Maritime Vision 2030.”
The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Water Transport of India will formulate the “India Maritime Vision 2030”.
The Neptune Declaration was signed by 450 and more organizations.
The declaration emphasized the main actions needed to resolve the crew change crisis. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the daily life and well-being of seafarers have been severely affected. This led to a humanitarian crisis at sea.
The declaration mentions four main actions needed to respond to the crew change crisis: Recognize that seafarers are key workers and provide them with Covid-19 vaccine as a priority. Establish and implement a gold standard health agreement based on existing best practices. Strengthen the cooperation between ship operators and charterers to facilitate crew changes. Ensure air connections between seafarers’ main maritime hubs.
