Govt plans to relax liquor law

Amid allegations of ineffective implementation of the law and recent hooch tragedies inBihar, the State Government is planning to amend the legislation to make it less stringent, a senior official said.

A person who is caught drunk for the first time may not be arrested but let off after payment of a fine on the spot, said the official privy to the matter. A person repeatedly violating the norms of liquor prohibition law would be liable to face a jail term.

An amendment bill is likely to be tabled in the next session of the assembly in February.

Azadi Ke Amrit To Golden India Program

Azadi Ke Amrit To Golden India known as Azadi Ke Amrit Mahotsav se Swarnim Bharat Ke Ore was launched on January 20, 2022, by PM Modi.

Azadi Ke Amrit Mahotsav means Festival of Independence and Swarnim Bharat ke Ore means towards Golden India.

It marks the beginning of the Brahma kumaris’ year-long celebration of Azadi ke Amrit. 15000 events and 30 campaigns will be held as part of the initiative.

Swachh Bharat consists of a public awareness campaign, a cleanliness drive, and community cleaning programs.

In the Indian context, immortality is not limited to physical existence. It is the embodied experience of being one with the cosmos. All initiatives will eventually center on this principle.

SEBI: Saarthi Mobile App

SEBI launched the Saarthi mobile application, which provides information about security markets, which is useful for investors.

The application explains , how they work, trading and settlement, KYC (Know Your Customer) procedures, market developments, and so on.

The application also includes a mechanism for resolving grievances. Both Hindi and English are used in the application.

It is compatible with both iOS and Android devices. The app will eventually be available in local languages as well.

The number of independent investors entering the market has recently increased. The app was created to assist these individual investors.

Operation Sard Hawa Launched By BSF

Operation Sard Hawa is launched by the Border Security Force (BSF), increasing border surveillance along the Pakistani border as part of the operation.

Highlights:

It is typically launched near the Rajasthan border, particularly in the Jaisalmer region. It is a yearly rite of passage, which will be available in January.

Operation Sard Hawa is carried out in the winter, while Operation Garam Hawa is carried out in the summer.These operations are managed to hold to control border infiltration. During the winter, thick fog obscures vision in the border area.

WEF: Global Cybersecurity Outlook 2022

The Global Cyber Security Outlook 2022 was recently released by the World Economic Forum.

Highlights:

Ransomware attacks climbed by 151 percent in 2021. On Average, each firm was subjected to 270 cyber-attacks.

An organization that successfully thwarted cyber-attacks paid 3.6 million dollars.

Cyber executives feel there is no distinction between cyber defense and cyber security, according to 59% of them.

That is not the case. Computers, data storage, and the Internet are all protected by cyber security.

Indonesia New Capital: Nusantara

Indonesians are relocating to Nusantara, a new capital in East Kalimantan. Earlier, Jakarta was the capital of Indonesia.

Highlights:

East Kalimantan, or Jakarta, is a city on the island of Borneo. In 2019, it was stated that the capital would be relocated here.

President Joko Widodo made the announcement. Since 1949, Jakarta has served as Indonesia’s capital.

Jakarta is confronted with environmental and financial challenges. Jakarta is becoming increasingly polluted.

It has constantly been recognized as one of the world’s most polluted cities. Jakarta is located on the Indonesian island of Java.

Climate Hazards and Vulnerability Atlas of India Created By CRS

CRS scientists have created an atlas of Climate hazards and vulnerability in India.

Highlights:

The map was created by scientists based on 14 extreme weather events.

They also took into account the risks and threats posed by these 14 weather events to the local Population and economy.

The term ‘local’ refers to a district rather than a state or village. The map was unveiled as part of the IMD Foundation Day celebrations this year.

It includes information on heat waves, cold waves, extreme rainfall, thunderstorms, lightning, and snowfall, as well as , winds, fog, and hail storms. RS stands for Climate Research and Services, and it is part of the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
