‘Aquifer mapping to minimize adverse impacts of overexploitation of ground water

A regional workshop on National Aquifer Mapping and Management (NAQUIM) Programme-Bihar, Jharkhand and Odisha was organised by Central Ground water Board (CGWB).

Union minister of state for Environment, forest and Climate changeAshwini Kumar Choubeywas the chief guest of the occasion. He emphasized for implementation of the NAQUIM outcomes for better ground water management and planning.

Aquifer mapping will be very useful in sustainable use of ground water and framing long term policy related to ground water withdrawal for <a href="https://exam.pscnotes.com/Agriculture-notes-for-state-psc-exams”>Agriculture and drinking water, he said.

More than 270 participants, including scientists, officers, technical and ground Water experts from various state and central government departments participated in the event.

The objectives of the NAQUIM program is to identify and map the aquifers in India, to estimate the quantity and quality of groundwater Resources in the aquifers and to develop a national groundwater Database and information system among others.

Modis Atmanirbhar Bharat to attain Energy Independence by 2047

The film The Kashmir Files directed by Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri has been shortlisted at the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival 2023.

There were several big personalities who attended the event such as Rekha, Alia Bhatt, Vidya Balan, Varun Dhawan and media staff, ministers, etc.

The Film of the Year 2023 award was honoured for the RRR movie, directed by S. S. Rajamouli.

ASI Approves Archaeological Excavations at 31 Sites

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) recently shared a list of sites which include the Gulf of Kutch, Gujarat and the Gomti River in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh.

Excavations are to be performed in 31 sites in total. Several sites are 16 in number and universities are also mentioned on the list. It comprises excavation projects in Pratima Garh and surrounding areas and Vembakottai in Tamil Nadu.

This is going to be undertaken by the respective state governments. One of the regions selected for the mission is Harwan in Srinagar, J&K. This area is an important part of Buddhist HISTORY as it is believed that the 4th Buddhist council was held here in the 1st or 2nd century CE.
