Bihar to invite open bid for sand ghats after district survey report

Mining department minister Janak Ram said the would invite open tender for the authorised sand ghats after completion of the district survey report (DSR) in the wake of the Supreme Courts directive recently.

The mining department had started the process of auction of authorised sand ghats in eight districts from October 1, but it was stopped on the order of the NGT, causing huge loss to the state exchequer. The state government then moved The Supreme Court against the NGTs order.

The NGT had directed the state government to undertake further exercise for preparation of a fresh DSR for Banka. This led to stalling the process of auction of the sand ghats in other districts as well.

India’s first National Yogasana Sports Championships

From November 11 to 13, 2021, the first Physical National Yogasana Championships in India will be held in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

Highlights:

The National Yogasana Sports Federation (NYSF) has partnered with the state of Odisha to host the National Yogasana Sports Championships 2021-22.

Approximately 560 young Yogasana Sports players from 30 states will compete in the tournament.

The goal of the event is to promote and build a global brand for it by portraying it as a competitive sport with high standards and benchmarks.

National Achievement Survey

The Indian government is poised to deploy a sample-based National Achievement Survey (NAS) for Classes 3, 5, 8, and 10.

Highlights:

On November 13, 2017, the previous National Achievement Survey (NAS) was conducted to examine the abilities developed by children in grades 3, 5, and 8.

The next NAS will take place on November 12, 2021, all throughout India.

During the covid-19 epidemic, this survey will aid in analyzing Learning disruptions and new learnings.

It will assist in the implementation of corrective actions following the assessment.

NCERT has worked on instrument development, testing, school sampling, and test item finalization, among other things.

However, CBSE will administer the test in the sampled schools in collaboration with the respective states/UTs.

Sela Tunnel Construction

The Border Roads Organisation (BRO) is building the world’s longest bi-lane road tunnel, the “Sela Tunnel,” on the Balipara-Chariduar-Tawang (BCT) road as part of Project Vartak.

Highlights:

The Sela tunnel is being built on the Indo-China border at a height of 13,800 feet.

It is being built on the 317-kilometer BCT road.

The BCT route connects Arunachal Pradesh’s East Kameng, West Kameng, and Tawang districts to the rest of India.

It is being built to provide Tawang with all-weather connectivity.

The tunnel would also allow for more efficient movement of troops and weapons along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

UN On Sahel Crisis

The UN peacekeeping head said on November 12, 2021, that the issue in Africa’s Sahel region is volatile because of insecurity and instability.

Highlights:

According to the chief, millions of people have been displaced, children have been unable to attend school, and many people lack access to primary Health care as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

While speaking at a UN Security Council meeting on the G5 Sahel force, he emphasized his worries.

Five African countries, Chad, Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, and Mauritania, formed the G5 Sahel force.
In 2017, the force was established to combat the growing terrorist threat in the vast Sahel region.

India-France To Hold 6th Edition Of Army Exercise

From November 15, 2021, the Indian Army will conduct the sixth edition of the biennial training exercise with the French Army.

Highlights:

In 2021, India and France conducted cooperative naval and air force drills.

Shakti 2021 will take place in Frejus, France, from November 15 to November 26.

A unit from the Gorkha Rifles Infantry Battalion will take part in the drill, representing India.

The 21st Marine Infantry Regiment of the 6th Light Armoured Brigade will represent the French army.

Under the United Nations’ mission, the Shakti 2021 exercise will focus on Counter-Terrorism operations in semi-urban terrain.

It will be held with the goal of improving military cooperation and interoperability between the two countries’ armies.
