Karnataka may replicate Bihar model of grievance redressal
Months after the Narendra Modi government adopted model of Nitish government’s two people-centric schemes- ‘Har Ghar Bijli Lagataar’ (uninterrupted power supply to each household) and ‘Har Ghar Nal Ka Jal’ (tap water to each household), the Karnataka government has now shown its eagerness to replicate the Bihar model of public grievance redressal system.
Bihar Right to Public Grievance Redressal Act (BRPGRA)
The BRPGRA is a system of redressal of the grievances of the citizens through a process of hearing by the Public Grievance Redressal Officer (PGRO), in the presence of the concerned public authority within a maximum period of 60 days. This system of public grievance redressal is a unique and pioneer in India, in which citizens have been empowered through an Act and the redressal of their grievances is a legal right.
In 2018, a team of officers from Chhatisgarh visited different parts of Bihar to study the implementation of total prohibition. In December 2019, the Rajasthan government formed a committee of senior officials, mostly from the finance department, to visit Bihar and study the impact of total prohibition in the state.
The Centre too adopted some people-centric schemes of Bihar government. The Narendra Modi government adopted ‘Saubhagya’ scheme from the Bihar model of ‘Haar Ghar Bijli Lagataar’. Recently, the Centre implemented ‘Nal Se Jal’ scheme on the very pattern of Bihar’s ‘Haar Ghar Nal Ka Jal’ scheme.
Earlier, the UPA government at the Centre had launched its livelihood programme named “Aajeevika” on the model of Bihar government’s ‘Jeevika’ scheme.

EU triggered dispute mechanism on Iran Nuclear deal
European Countries namely Britain, France, and Germany pressured Iran to stop its violations of the nuclear deal. The EU countries stressed to resolve differences through talks on the United Nations sanctions.
The three countries rejected Iran’s justification for violating the deal because the U.S. broke the agreement by withdrawing in 2018. EU has charged Iran over transgressions that could ultimately lead to the reimposition of UN sanctions and triggered the deal’s dispute mechanism.
Iran nuclear deal:
Iran nuclear deal is also known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA)
