  • Ecotourism: River cruise, bird watching on cards from Nov

  • The forest department’s eco-tourism plan in Ganga is likely to take off in November this year. It has now been substantially long since the plan was conceived. Due to lack of response from bidders, against the tender floated by the local forest department for outsourcing tour operations, the plan had so far failed to make any headway.

  • In the 50-kilometre stretch of river Ganga between Sultanganj and Kahalgaon, constituting the area of Vikramshila Gangetic Dolphin Sanctuary (VGDS), eco-tourism is to be promoted by introducing a river cruise.

  • The proposed river cruise is first initiative towards the yet to be explored tourist potential of VGDS. Spotting several species of birds, and animals like otters would be additional enjoyment for people on the cruise.
