DMPQ- ‘Jal-Jivan-Hariyali’ campaign will ensure the realization of swachh Bihar in entity. Critically analyse.

‘Jal-Jivan-Hariyali Abhiyan’ programme is aimed at protecting environment and minimising the bad effects of climate change on the lives of people in Bihar. It will make  people aware of the fact that groundwater is the only source of water in the event of less rainfall and people will have to go for rainwater harvesting to conserve water. Further will creating awareness about the State government’s water resources schemes and steps to save and conserve water.

It will include following works by different departments of Bihar government:-

  • Identification of Ponds/Puddle in the State and clear them of encroachments.
  • the public water bodies in rural areas having surface area of up to 2 hectares will be renovated under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee (MGNREGA) scheme. The water bodies having surface area of more than 2 hectares, on the other hand, will be renovated either by the minor water resources department (MWRD), agriculture or the UDHD, depending on their location.
  • Public wells to be identified.
  • Water recharge and reuse facility to be established near identified wells, ponds, puddles and other water bodies.
  • Check dams on small rivers and river-lets.
  • Rain water Harvesting
  • Drip Irrigation
  • Use of Solar Energy
